Photoshop PHOTOSHOP USERS

Whether you use our templates or you create your own document,
please make sure the dimension of your file is the exact size of the finished size.

Image Resolution

Photos and graphics need to be 100 DPI at full size.

In Photoshop, go to IMAGE > IMAGE SIZE so see your resolution.
Résolution d’image
Determine image quality from the source image.

Good Quality:

High resolution / high quality stock photography
High resolution / high quality scanner »

Low Quality:

Screen capture of video frame
Low resolution / low quality stock photography
Image lifted off a web-page

Why 100 DPI?

Since your banner will be a large format print, you don't need to prepare your file in 300 DPI which is usually used for smaller format print.

If you are uncertain of the quality of your images, please call us 888-349-6912or email us at service@mediasystems.ca

Color Mode

Your files have to be in CMYK mode.
IMAGE -> MODE -> CMYK

Recipe for a Successful gradient:

When you make a gradient of more than 11" (28 cm)
it is likely to appear bands when printing (banding).

This is caused by the mechanical limits of large format printers.

What can I do?

Here is the recipe to follow in order to mitigate the appearance of your band gradients.

Here is the recipe to follow in order to mitigate the appearance of your band gradients.

If your gradient is very great use as much as possible opacity.
Example: A gradient done in the range from 0 to 30% over a distance of 36 inches (91.4 cm)
laminate will fail. Use a gradient from 0 to 100% done with a pale color.

Never take Pantone to achieve your gradient. It is not possible to get a match
perfect color made with a gradient Pantone, because it will be converted to CMYK.

Ideally a gradient background will be saved as a .tif image and re-imported into your work.
This separation is to keep the details to level stratification (banding).

Add noise (noise) in the gradient to create more diffusion (dithering) between strata using
noise filter in Photoshop. Apply filter on a channel that has a lot of opacity.

Saving your files

Flatten image

Save your file in .JPEG, .EPS with JPEG compression formats,
or as a last resort in .TIFF format.

If you need our graphic designers to modify your art work, don't flatten layers but convert all text to shapes.
(Graphic modification - Please call for estimated time.)

You're almost finished!

Before you upload the file(s) to us, view your graphic in actual pixel view.
VIEW -> ACTUAL PIXEL

Review the entire graphic carefully, especially your logo and photos if any, to make sure it looks good to you.
Because what you see in the actual pixel view is very close to what you will get on your banner(s).

If you are satisfied with what you see, please UPLOAD FILES with your contact and order information all complete.
List all PANTONE colors used in your artwork
.

Important note about matching the colors in the final print:
Note that a computer screen is not a reliable reference.
This is why you need to incorporate into swatches
PANTONE colors used in your documents.
We work with the latest Pantone chart, the "COLOR BRIDGE" RIGHT side CYMK.
If you do not have the PANTONE colors in your artwork,
you can provide us a printed document as a reference (match print).
Otherwise everything will be printed as is,  without warranty of color matching.

*If your text are not created outlined, font shift might occur.

Saving your files
When you are done with the design, save the file in EPS format.
If you have extra graphics outside of the finished size area, create a crop area with the exact size of finishing size before saving.

If you need our graphic designers to modify your art work, send us your original Illustrator file(s).
